special needs program development & non-profit management
The Center is a unique model for tackling the needs of our community, we are a private-pay, not for profit model with a low Member - to - Staff ratio to ensure high quality of care. This model is based on our Member's needs being more significant and more medically fragile. It has significant costs and provides its own challenges that our leadership is working on each day to maintain our mission.
We welcome several types of internships:
University Internships - For Undergraduate and Master Students
Particularly in the fields of special education, rehabilitation health, community health and non-profit management. Capstone projects to explore innovative program development, communication, marketing and fundraising strategies are just a few examples of student projects. Supervision and mentorship is provided by Amber Caldwell, MSc our Acting Executive Director who has over 15 years of experience mentoring medical students, research fellows and interns including over 20+ peer reviewed clinical research publications. She holds a BA in Global and International Studies and a MSc in Global Health Policy.
